Memories of Sadness and Hopes
Born in a confusing family
And in a confusing area, Russia
I heard the cries of old people,
Grandfathers and grandmothers
But I hoped the cries would end
I hoped the grandmothers and grandfathers
Would not be afraid of losing their lives.
Now I’m here, Tukwila
My parents try to forget the past
And start over.
But it’s not easy, for them to forget their childhood
Or to forget the memories they still have,
Memories of sadness and hopes.
Now, I am in the beautiful state of Washington,
I’m trying to forget my past,
But it’s hard for a child too.
This is my life
Now it happened for a beautiful reason
And I happened for a reason.
